November 2022
Week 3

Left Kingston SE campsite on the foreshore which gave use weather that was a little wet and rainy so we made plans to travel to Taitem Bend.  We saw 3 emus on a dirt road near the mouth of the Murray river.  It also rained and hailed as we drove. But we got to Taitem Bend roadhouse and I had a shower and shave was a free shower in the men’s room, not one in the ladies.   We then got a $1 coffee from Coles express and continued our journey to Hahndorf.  A beautiful German town.  I had two pies from the bakery and no kidding they are the best pies in Australia.  We visited the clock shop, got a chocolate showbag and Sara had a huge apricot Danish. We then travelled to Palmer Campground which was drier but was atleast free and located at the cricket ground in between a huge olive tree grove.  I made chicken lentil curry and the following morning we travelled to Mannum  We got the free ferry over the flooded Murry river and it was too high to fish.  We then travelled onto Adelaide City and found 2 hour free parking and visited Rundle Mall, China town and the inside markets.  That night we spent the night behind the Peninsula Hotel that closes at 3am.  We woke at 6am and travelled to Adelaide for the day finding 5 hour parking about 30 minutes out of city.  We had rice bowl and sushi outside David Jones but Sara was feeling tired so we headed back and made our way to a free campsite at Hamely Bridge.  This area looked dodgy so we travelled onto a town called Owen which had a beautiful silo mural and cute little pub where we ordered a cooper and vodka cruiser and put $1 into the pokies.  Sara made $3.  Josh sent letter from Gosnells about our front lawn being overgrown and a fire risk.  Had van shower in morning and filled up with water before heading to Baklava to get some fish bait from IGA before heading to Port Wakefield, once again the tide was out and no fish.  So we Drove back to Baklava (IGA closed) and then to Owen free campsite.  We then drove to Petes in South Gawler and I decided to mow his overgrown lawn after which we visited two hotels to play pokies.  Went back to Petes and cooked up chicken burgers.  We chilled and listened to music.  Next morning we went Via Clare as pretty vineyard area and stopped at the tourist info centre and chatted to a lady there.  After having lunch in the carpark.  We then travelled to Port Pirie, did a shop at Woolworths before our major Nullaboor crossing.  Went to go fishing here too, but tide was out. So went to Sporties Bar and played pokies.  Power went out when playing and we took that as a sign to find out next campsite just out of town in a place called Lawrie Park.  In the morning found water tap hiding behind toilet area so we had a van shower and topped up our water tanks.
