August 2022 Week 2

Trip to Albany today.

I have got all my clothes sorted.  All the cutlery placed in appropriate areas.  Fresh sheets and linen, towels and plates bowls and other things.

Vacuumed  out the Van and filled the tanks with fresh water.  Double checks done.  This trip will hopefully indicate what we have left behind or need to have.

Trying to work out a Van life routine to keep healthy.

Going to start the morning being thankful and reading a scripture verse ten times.  Each time thinking what the verse is saying (Meditating on Word).  Today I read that God takes pleasure in His people and He gives salvation to the humble.  From this I get that God enjoys us and that you don't have to be a superstar to get salvation.

Next a quick 5 minutes of deep breathing with meditation music to bring my mind into the present and being aware of myself and my surroundings and try to be in the moment..

Then put the instant pot on for porridge as I begin slowly stretching for 5 minutes and focusing on my physical body.  Finish off with a quick good morning to God and ask Him to join us in the adventures that await us today.  And then brew a coffee and check social media for 5 minutes.

We left in the morning and stopped at Williams for a coffee.  While sitting in our van we saw a man jump off the bridge to get a sheep that was in the river.  We continued to Katanning via Wagin and noticed that Wagin have $10 a night powered sites for self contained vans.  Next time we might stay here too.

We got to Katanning and Andrew shouted us to Dinner at Oscars. I had ribs and Sara had fish and chips with a Baileys for dessert.  We got back to his house and surrounded his log fire and talked before hot-water bottles were filled and a cold night was had.  We left for Albany stopping in at the Mt Baker Bakery for carrot cake for afternoon tea with my Lighthouse Church Pastor and his wife.

We camped up at my Sister in Laws place for a few days and while here I checked out the free hot showers at Middleton Beach and tested the  Van's shower.  Both were very warm.  We also took a trip to Middleton beach with the nephew and he spent ages digging in the sand and picking up shells along the beach.  I did some exercises at the picnic area.

Next day we went to the Strawberry farm and our niece and nephews played in the open area while we sipped on soup.  (Not the best soup as tasted like can stuff).

We had tea at another family member who had come down and it was nice to have fresh steak and broccoli fry with almonds.

On Tuesday we went for a walk to the Castle Rock Skywalk in the Porongurups.  We purchased a $60 Yearly National park pass from the RAC Website, as it would cost us $12 for a day pass.  This walk has lots of steps and the climb over the rocks to get to the ladder provided a little rush of adrenaline.   We had a beer and coffee from the Van, after the walk and talked about the off-grid aspects of Van life in Bucky

We headed off and I was amazed that we found a truckle hot shower spot at Cranbrook turn off, just off the Albany Highway.  After the free shower we had a quick coffee and decided to head home rather then go via Katanning to get ready for the big lap.  Was great to get diesel for 1.89 cents per litre from random new petrol station.

Trip taught us we need to use toilet paper not wet wipes as paper  breaks down better in porta potty.  That we can re-used hot water bottle water for the next hot water bottle. Importance of eating quality and not processed foods.
