This week we left Darwin  and made the journey across the other half of the desert all the way to Cairns.  After driving past Katherine we made our first camp in Sir Charles Todd Memorial.  We meet a couple in a large Bus and I played the guitar and Sara did a crossword. 

In the morning we stopped by Daly Water’s which had some interesting relics.  We did a nostalgic stop in Renner’s Springs in 2019 both me and Sara worked here for about a week.  Filled tank with their spring water.  We then travelled to Tennent Creek as wasn’t going to pay the highest price for diesel yet at the turn off.  We headed to our next free campsite 41 Mile Bore rest area.  Made a small fire and had a good rest.

Next morning we travelled to WW2 Site rest area (Free campsite) just out of Mount Isa.   We awoke early and explored Mt Isa, visited the Buff Club and did the usual, Fill Water Tanks, Have Shower, Stock up fridge with Salads and Salmon. 

We left Mount Isa and stopped at Mary Kathleen Rest area which is an abandoned Uranium town.  Lots of cows and very flat tree studded area.  The following morning we made some good distance and stopped at Hughenden RV Campground (Free Camp in town). 

Next morning we travelled to Townsville and did the typical re-supply routine and visited the Cowboy club in town.  At night we stayed at a BP station close by and did our laundry.  In the morning I spoke to a guy in a wheelchair who was travelling in a L400 Mitsubishi Van and towing his electric chair on a trailer. 

We then made our way to Frosty Mango and Sara had two scoops of ice-cream (Mango and Banana).  After this treat we travelled to a BP station for a free shower and bought a pineapple for $2.  We then travelled to Mission beach and did a small walk before parking behind a hotel (Goondi Hill Hotel) for free camp at Innisfail. 

We then made our way to Cairns and had a Sushi Train and completed our creative content at Machan’s Beach in Cairns.  We will put some shoes on soon and visit the Leagues Club in Cairns soon.  We will do a stealth camp tonight or camp at green patch rest area.  You guess it.  A free campsite.
