Bucky Diary April 2019

Tasmania

Bucky the Van takes a break from free camping and settles into the Big 4 Caravan Park in St Helen's for some luxury treatment.

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary treat and a Wikicamp deal lead Bucky into this direction.  It seems that our God has been giving us good places to camp on our Tasmania journey and we are always thankful for all the new experiences that present themselves.

Beautiful sunny weather 17-20deg and we have been able to go on long walks with Rusty into the town and along the foreshore, where we saw fishermen looking for oysters and where we have exchanged 'hellos' with the locals.

Decided to go for a drive to St Columba's Waterfall in Pyengana.  Along the way, we came across an amazing antique shop called A Shop in the Bush. Then further along the Dairy Company and Holy Cow Cafe, where we got to taste all types of delicious cheeses.  Then out of the blue we came upon A Pub in the Paddock, where Priscilla the Pig who drinks beer resides.  The Pub was reminiscent of the pub in the movie American Werewolf in London!  We finally arrived at St Columba's Waterfall at the end of a very steep and windy road.  A 10 minute downhill walk to the waterfall, revealed a breathtaking view of the over 90 metres cascading waterfall. After a steady climb back from the waterfall to the carpark, we sat at a picnic table and had a coffee and got talking to a couple from Victoria, who had years of experience caravanning.

Rod also went fishing several times off the pier in St Helen's, which was within walking distance of the caravan park. He caught a Taylor and on our last night, a Mackerel.

Will be sad to leave St Helen's, but have beautiful memories to hold of this lovely town on the north east coast of Tasmania.
